TERRA provided site/civil engineering services associated with the development of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s new Academic and Residential Complex. The ARC is a 10-story campus housing (16,000 square feet) and academic facility (50,000 square feet) that houses approximately 550 students, classrooms, lecture halls, student lounges, offices and more.
TERRA provided engineering for the site’s demolition, pavement, grading, drainage, stormwater management facility, and wet utility services. Our team’s design includes rain gardens and permeable pavement for sustainable stormwater management. Since the site is located adjacent to the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), our staff achieved permitting through the OUC Deep Foundation process and IDOT.
This LEED Gold project, certified by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), was the first Public-Private Partnership (P3) of its kind in the state of Illinois. This project was fully financed by American Campus Communities.
